sydney: day 5

today is the first day of spring, says the news anchor. let's hope she gets the message.

today's the first day of posting in THEATRE :D. unfortunately tomomi and i are posted to the ortho ot, which means bones, bones and more bones. it is though, enough to cement my want to work there. well at least there in the sydney theatre, havent seen how dear ol' s'pore will be like.

us in scrubs!

i think this posting is THE most flexible ever. they can easily swapped you around (was in ED, then neuro ICU but then placed in OT when i expressed my interest in it, how cool is that??), and apparently, there's no fix timing. well there's suppose to be, and shift is suppose to last for 10hrs each (fri-sun off! whee!) but helen (the facilitator) very casually pull us away early to meet up with the UoSyd students and telling us "not to worry, be more relax cos we arent paid for this anyway". so thats how tomomi and i find ourselves to be leaving early tmr again to meet the students again, who will be taking us to the beach! imagine swapping attachment for beach in s'pore. unimaginable isnt it?

i'm not too sure if that paragraph makes at all sense cos am very fuzzy at the moment. had just woken up and is all alone in the dorm cos my 2 roomies are in the afternoon and i'm in the morn. nice to have SPACE all to myself for once, even with cool relaxed roomies like this 2:

the surrogate mother and the other seah.

other ppl who's here too:

ellen, who seems to have stolen doraemon's pocket

tomomi who cant make sushi

sarini who has a chef friend who becomes our impromptu guide

and me! very happy in the OT

observed total knee replacement today. it was GOOD although wince-worthy cos of the roughness. and the surgeon was UBER NICE!! he played songs, real songs with abba, the fray, savage garden etc and he sings along, and got mercilessly teased for hitting the falsetto notes on 'truly madly deeply'. he doesnt rem some of the instrument names and asks for 'doo-dad', 'long tubey thingy' and 'thingamajid' and surprisingly the scrub nurse knows what he wants. when she doesnt, he strolls over to the equipment table and just points it out for her.

hopefully my ot week in ttsh would be as great. well one can hope ya?
