savage.

today i had 2 piece chicken from kfc for lunch. as i was enjoying them, i realized how barbaric it actually is. an animal feasting on another animal's carcass. never mind that one is thinking and enlightened. i'll never eat chicken the same way again.

it seems that am slowly excluding all kinds of food in my diet. never mind that. let me continue telling the story of poor orpheus.

orpheus had lost euridyce forever because of the one rule that he had broken. grieving, he retreated to an isolated island, and spent his days mournfully strumming his lyre. one day, his mother, calliope (homer's muse) came to him. for the last time. she tried to reason with him, to tell him to continue living, and finally, to warn him that the bacchante (dionysus' beloved sisters of frenzy) were heading in his direction. orpheus cast all that aside, said his final farewell to his beloved mother, and remain as calliope left. the bright day grew dark, and a storm blew in, bringing with it the cries of the bacchante. it was horrifying. multitude of naked, wild women had arrived before him, covered with wine and dried blood. orpheus was offered to drink wine with them, make love to them, but he refused. the bacchante did not wait nor did they wish to be given anything. they took. and took orpheus they did. ripped, eaten raw, broken, blood splattered..that was what became of orpheus. i didnt tell you what exactly was the deal he made with teleute (Death) did i? she could show him the way to the Underworld but she could not take him. so beaten, ripped, eaten, orpheus was still alive. in the frenzy, his head was flung into the nearby river and he floated away, screaming for his one love, euridyce. orpheus landed on another island which housed the temple of Apollo. the waves washed him ashore and defeated, orpheus weeped. his father, oneiros(Dream) appeared before him. oneiros chastised his son for being foolish in throwing away 2 things that were his for sure; life, and death. oneiros also told him that he had visited the priests of the island in their dreams and they would find him and treat him well. all these while, orpheus was weeping and pleading to his father to help him to die. his father refused. oneiros picked up the decapitated head of his son, left it on a rock shelf and said his final goodbye. orpheus was left there, watching his father walked away, never once, turning back.

the end.
