Mission: to witness national day parade and fireworks
Reason: cos i refuse to watch full circle and shooting stars
Buddies: after SOOO many cancellation, me and wei qi. oh and shafi for ten min in tm and isk afterwards.
Itinerary:
1545-met wei qi at cheers and weht to the exhibition at tm. met shafi. got sprayed by water and what not from the extinguisher. saw exhibits. got highly jealous and annoyed over ONE thing.
emotion: NOT patriotic.
1730- arrived in clarke quay where we were supposed to meet marcus. marcus called at 1735 to say that he's NOT coming. and isk called to say they're sealing all entries into the esplanade by 1800. gosh..
emotion: annoyed.
1755- reached boat quay. walked was gd. saw lotsa interesting pubs and restaurants. also saw the parachuters, red lions. thought they were strings of red balloons that got loosed till corrected by buddy. lotsa ppl stuck there. did i mentioned ALL entries to esplanade area were sealed?
emotion: a bit silly after mistake abt the parachuters.
1815- after walking round and round the fullerton, finally got acrossed. also got nice ice cream, mocha chip. unfortunately the bridge frm one fullerton to esplanade bay side was also sealed and we cant cross back cos they decided to seal the road. soooo...no choice, had to take the train to city hall frm raffles place *muh*. and to get to the train muz walked allll the way to clifford pier. which was kinda cool cos found some real old sch and vintage shops. and theres BANQUET opp clifford pier. wow. long walks, interesting discoveries, lotsa ppl..gd thing you're with me and not some other girly girls huh qi? saw the 3 choppers carrying the huge national flag, the 6 super noisy planes flying the victory sign, heard the choir sing, and the 21 cannon salute.
emotion: happy(ice cream), annoyed, amazed, amazed..and happy again.
1940- reached suntec after some excitement at the station. saw the saf vehicles and the suv that buddy waxed just previous day. it was gleaming! horrible crowd. opted for pizza for dinner. ordered take away and hot foot off to esplanade to catch the fireworks.
emotion: tired, hungry, happy, heart beating too fast.
2005- reached esplanade! absolutely packed. saw fireworks! ooohh and aaahhh with everybody. got showered by the residue. saw a grp of indian guys doing the bhangra dance to a techno song. everything there was hot and packed and great!
emotion: happy!
2035- set off towards suntec to collect our cold pizza. managed to cross over but i got curious cos of this gung-ho indian lady running back to esplanade in her sari so we followed. only to realised that we cant cross back because...yep, they sealed the road again..so followed the crowd on a one huge round to cross. squeezy! and some excitement provided by some ppl who decided to jump the barrier and dashed across. caught of cos, and the sentries screamed themselve hoarse. funny. finally we crossed!
emotion: muh-ness mostly
2115-got our pizza. highly cold by now. but still yummy. sat outside the fountain of wealth and enjoyed the laser show and songs. met isk and took photos. end of my ndp adventure
emotion: full! happy
post mortem: mission accomplished! tho it had never taken me 3 whole hrs to get frm boat quay to esplanade but nevertheless, interesting experience! also getting stuck in those huge crowds allows one to erm..experience the smell of s'pore. lolz.
